A good guitar will sound like crap when played through a crappy amp. There's no way it can be otherwise. A bad amp is not like a clogged filter or something, interfering in the full expression of a wonderful guitar. No, no. A crappy amp is an active thing -- it screws up everything that enters, turning even the most soulful and responsive instrument to harsh dreck and muddy, boomy, tinny badness. Yes, muddy AND tinny, it's all possible with a crappy amp!

 

 

That's what I said. Maybe I should've said "crappy" instead of "decent"?
