Members Magpel
Hey, any of you Phil-ites have any ears/hands-on experience with the Avant Electronics CV-12 tube mic? I like the way it sounds verbally, meaning what people have to say about it, but reviews are in short supply. It appears to be a "new paradigm" mic--chinese made, Amercian QC, like my Fathead, which I like quite a lot. I am looking for a new flavor mostly for a vocal mic. My current choices in Vocals mics are a Studio Projects C1 and a Shurs SM7B (also have an AKG C3000, but I won't use that as a vocal mic anymore...) With the C1, I think it is safe to say that I have crispy bright covered With the SM7B, you get that rich round midrange. The CV-12 seems to be described as more on the "full -- dark" side of the spectrum, which appeals to me, especially since I am not really looking for an all-rounder....I don't think. I hear good things about the AT 4047 in the same range. Anyway, back to the original question: Avant CV-12. What say you?
Members Magpel
BUMP...I see in a diffeent thread that Phil had recently received a shipment of the Avant mics but hadn't had a chance to check them out yet. Any updates?
