I dont have much experience with the SH-5, other then playing Schecters that come with them, But i have the SH-4 in my Epi Les Paul, and i love it! It's incredibly versitle, and goes through effects nicely. It has a clean enough output to sound sweet while playing clean arpegios, ( i play at church, so sometimes I need this tone.) but It has enough outpu to start pushing the amp at higher volumes. I'd definitely say check it out.

I've been listening to the sound-demos on the SD homepage and they seem to sound quite similar. What are the differences between those PUs???

Thanks!

SH-4 - Alnico V

SH-5 - Ceramic

Slight differences in the tone.

JB uses a alnico 5 and AWG 44 wire and is wound to 16.4K

the custom uses a ceramic and AWG 43 wire and is wound to 14.1K

the custom has less upper mids and more bass than the JB also

the JB has more harmonics

both are about the same output in the real world.
