Members beard
I just bought a new Fender Delux Powerhouse Strat. I fell in love with the color first. (Carmel) Then I picked it up and it felt great in my hands. Then I played it and really liked the variance in tones. Like I said, I bought it. It has a feature called "tone boost" and has a 9 volt battery located in the back of the guitar. I feel stupid for asking this question, but does anyone have one of these and how do you get it to "kick in"? I love the sounds dI get out of it but can't figure out how to get the "Tone boost". Members CompleteGuitard
Its one of the tone knobs, my buddy has one. I forget whether its the top or the bottom one. But one tone knob acts as a master, and one acts as a boost. Turn it all the way off to keep it unactive. Boost it from there. at 10 it screams
Members Tonemeister87
The middle tone control also acts as a mid boost I got the deluxe player strat instead. Its got way more features like the ash body and vintage noiseless pups. They're both the same price Tim
Members Tonemeister87
The other thing I forgot to mention was this:HOW THE HELL DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THE MID-BOOST FUNCTION IF YOU ACTUALLY OWN THE GUITAR?!?!?!?!?

Members Cougarbruin
Alright. Fender says its alder. MF catalog says its poplar. I tend to believe Fender, but whats the chance these are made of poplar? They were at one time. Also - are the necks on the Deluxes any different than a regular MIM? Members dmisner6
the neck are very different. pre 2006 stndrd MIM necks i think are 9.5 radius and vintage frets compared to deluxe necks of 12 radius and med jumbo frets. Not to mention a much smoother feel over all.

Members dmisner6
Never played a powerhouse but the deluxe players are FANTASTIC. GREAT sound and so comfortable in the hands- its also surprisingly light, too.
Members bdegrande
I own a Powerhouse and used to own a Deluxe Super, which was the earlier model of the Deluxe Players. Both are great guitars. I sold the Deluxe Super because I didn't like the Tex Mex pickups, but those have been replaced with noiseless pickups in the Deluxe Players model. Being able to get the missing pickup combinations is certainly a plus. If anything, I think the Powerhouse is even more versatile with the midboost, it gives you tones that are much fatter than usual Strat tones - great for leads. The pickups on this one are actually American Standard/Series pickups, and the dummy coil is an AS Tele pickup, which cancels hum in all positions.
