Members DWBH
how do you reach that characteristic sound that we hear in a jazz or blues cd. you know, the sound of the guitar when the guitarist is 'soloing' (improvisation)... i know that the guitar and the amp are the most important things to have in mind, but do we need an extra effect or a special config? do you even use a pedal? my guitar is a jazz guitar (epiphone sheraton) but the amp is a marshall vs102r (i'm a noob, what is the kind of music indicated to this amp?) anyway, help me
Members Burgess
Maybe you can give us a player or two that has the sound you're looking for. If you're looking for the kind of sound you hear from George Benson, Norman Brown or Pat Martino then you should be able to get that from your guitar. Simply put on a set of flatwound strings and use your neck pickup exclusively. Set your amp up to play clean and you should be all set. Don't be afraid to use your guitar's tone controls if necessary.
Members ylwledbetter68
For jazz band I don't use any effects besides my amp's reverb. I use the neck single coil with the tone about halfway down, and just play with my amp's settings.
