Atlanta Guitars stores

Guitar Center is off North Druid Hills on the I-85 access road. They and Mars pretty much ran most of the other stores inside the Perimeter out of business around 2000 or so. :(

Maple Street Guitars is in the Buckhead area: http://www.maplestreetguitars.com I haven't been there myself but a guy I know who's a big acoustic player likes them.

Atlanta Music Brokers is up in Roswell/Alpharetta. They've got some top end stuff there. See http://www.atlantamusicbrokers.com/index1.html for more info.

Galaxy Music ( http://galaxymusicusa.com ) is out toward Stone Mountain on US 78. They've got a lot of used stuff but are rather pricey for what they've got. For example, they had a badly beaten up Carvin Tele copy for $10 less than ordering a new one from Carvin!

I went to Maple Street Guitars not too long ago and they had a knowledgeable staff. Amazingly enough, they have a used Heritage H150CM in stock so, surfcat (if I remember correctly), you can go try one out if you're still looking. They also have a Belair Green G&L Legacy. Most of their stuff is new Fenders, Gibson, and PRS.

There's Atlanta Discount Music in Chamblee. The website has a pic of their showroom. Mesa dealer as well as G&L. Nice store. http://www.atlantadiscountmusic.com/

There's Midtown Music in Decatur which is a Fender, PRS, Gibson, and "boutique" amp store. http://www.midtownmusic.com/

Way out in Lilburn is Music Go Round. I went out there recently and found nothing.

In Smyrna there's Dirt Cheep Music which is mostly used guitars and has a few nice pieces and plenty of used effects. http://dirtcheepmusic.com/

In Smyrna is also Atlanta Vintage Guitars. It's real close to Dirt Cheep and is a small used/vintage Fender/Gibson shop. Never been there. http://www.atlantavintageguitars.com/

In Marietta is Guitar Center near the corner of Windy Hill and Hwy 41. The other Guitar Center off of 85 has a better selection.

Just north of Vinings and a few miles south of the aforementioned Guitar Center, a Sam Ash is set to open (I believe) this Thursday.

Outside of the perimeter is also various locations of Ken Stanton Music with the largest location in Marietta. New Fender, Schecter, Gibson, Epiphone, ESP/LTD, Ibanez, Peavey, etc. Much smaller than Guitar Center, but a much "nicer" place in my opinion. I take lessons at the Roswell location from an excellent teacher named Ed Weir.

Atlanta Music Brokers has the real high end guitars. Anderson, Suhr, PRS, Gibson and the occasional Music Man. They're a Crate and Mesa dealer as well. Nice store.

I've also been to Ponier music in Marietta as they're registered as a G&L dealer. I only found a Tribute, couple of used Les Pauls, and a bunch of Deans.

Galaxy Music has a ton of used gear. The marked prices seemed a little high, but I get the feeling they know what their stuff is worth and would deal.
