Members Johnstinkpants
Anyone know of good, reasonably priced guitar techs in London? I want to get my guitar set up to play 2 whole steps down and I'm not really sure what needs to be done
Members B.C.Bud
Haven't got a clue what's happening in London but I do know that heavier gauge strings would be a beginning. Something like 12's at least. Your nut will have to be filed a bit wider to accomodate the fatter strings. The intonation at the saddles will have to be adjusted. I hope you have enough room to get it correct. It's not unusual to run out of room on a TOM. The heavier strings will cause faster fret wear. You may have to raise the action to prevent string buzz. Maybe you'd be better off with a Baritone style guitar which is meant for this and their scale length is a bit longer than Fender's 25 1/2". All this, you should be able to do yourself. Members Professor Tom
Charlie Chandler's guitar experience in Hampton Court is about as good as it gets. He is a very experienced guy, nice fellow too !

Members uberscott
Chris Bryant Guitars on Manette St (opp side of Charing Cross Road from Denmark St) have a tech called Andy. All my setup/tech work has gone through him for the last couple of years and he is excellent. Very reasonable prices too.
Members neal73
I used to know of one in London called Andy Warnocks (or something like that) - he used to do stuff for the guitar shop I worked in SE London in the early '90s. His work was excellent - would love to find where he's working now to work magic on my tele.
