Members Alanfc
if you have both and use them, what do you like about one vs. the other ? and, bonus question,if you have an alder Strat, rosewood board, with a humbucker in the bridge, how does the heaviness of tone compare between the 2 .? thanks
Members Machine Gun
I have a 65 SG(w/broken neck right now that I need to get fixed ) and a Fender Strat S-S-S. I prefer the feel of the SG's neck over the Strat. It also has better fret access. Tone wise, the SG's pick-ups can get a singing lead tone that it much harder to achieve with the Strat.I really like the versatility of the Strat's pick up config though. It is much more versatile, and has a clean "spank" that the SG doesn't get.Don't get me wrong, the SG can do clean quite well, but it's just a different clean.Hope this helps.
