Members fredthecat
I've never replaced pickups before, how complicated would it be? Anyone have any good links to help me out? Or should I just bring it to a shop...
Members TomCTC
I'd say bring it to a shop to get it done, but ask them if you can watch and explain to you what they're doing so that you know for next time.
Members Pengrin
I'd say give it a go yourself if you can solder. If you can solder its quite simple as long as you know where the wires go and how to put it back together. As you take the guitar apart, go SLOWLY and take photos or write notes about which wire goes where and how things go together. Be pedantic as there is nothing more frustrating than pulling something apart then sitting there thinking, crap where does this bit go??If this sounds too much then by all means take it to a repairer and see if you watch and learn from them. I started modding by trying it myself, ballsing it up and taking it to a repairer. i learned quickly after that and do all my modding myself at home now. Members tomr63
Tele's are pretty easy to wire. Here is a link to Fender's wiring diagrams. Scroll down to the Telecaster section and you will find diagrams for all versions of the Telecaster.http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/index.php Since you are taking it apart, you might as well shield it too.http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/menu.php Remember, you have to have a ground wire from the bridge plate.
