Members blackmonday
Thanks, I think the term "plaintop" is funny because I don't find these guitars plain at all. Solid color tops are plain!
Members myway
I remember when I had bought my first Gibson back in 1981. I walked into Marty's music and saw a couple of Les Pauls. The flame was really spread apart, and was not necessarily bookmatched. I do not even think bookmatched wood was even like a thing back then. But I remember Marty saying '"look at that tiger stripe!". So I started refering to wide "flame " guitars as tiger stripe rather than flame. Flame I believe should be addressed when you have a real tight pattern of wood flame. God bless Marty's Music on FM 149 in Houston. It was many years ago and his store folded way back when. But that man took the time to educate me on guitars. Love those Mom and Pop stores like that back then. Too bad they are disappearing:(
Members jwhite
Plaintop. The flametop's are supposed to be classy, but it just looks like a bad saw-job to me. jwhiteOriginally posted by zepfan976 which do you prefer?
