Members n8wood
I've got a MIM '72 RI Thinline Tele and I really like how it sounds, the problem is the truss rod is broken. I took it to get setup one time and the technician said it's not moving. He had to do a fret job for a proper setup. The change in season is affecting the setup, it no longer plays like it did last summer and I have no way to adjust it. My dilemma, buy a new neck or a new guitar. I checked out Warmoth and it would be over $400 for a neck, that's almost 3/4 of what I payed for the guitar itself. Should I look at a different guitar and transplant the pickups to it? How much of the sound do you think I could retain? The neck pickup is the standard Fender Wide Range, but I replaced the bridge with a GFS Mean 90. The Wide Range is very large and is not a standard size pickup so I'm not sure if routing would be necessary if I transplant it. What do you think?
