How long do these services (Tunecore/CDBaby/Reverbnation/any others?) take, on average, to get to stores, such as Amazon.com and iTunes? ...and which one is your favorite?

I've read that it takes under a week for songs to appear on Amazon.com from Tunecore...is that true?

tunecore takes 4-6 weeks. gf unless you pay like 200 bucks

The Tunecore site says, "On average it takes about 4-6 weeks to go live on all stores. Some stores review faster than others with Amazon taking under a week".

So does that mean that it will take 4 - 6 weeks for your music to go live on ALL the stores, but it could go on Amazon in a week?

from what a friend at RN tells me the bottleneck is not the distributor you sign with but the digital retailers ingestion process. I recall being told 6-8 weeks but I could have that wrong.

So Tunecore and CDBaby pretty much take the same time?

If so, Amazon.com is fast!!! Only took two days...then iTunes took only about a week and a half...but this was for a single. I don't know if it would take longer for an album.

Actually, it's more like 2-3 weeks with iTunes lately--and no, we don't ask for cash to make it go faster!

You're right, it's dependent on the store. I can't speak for other distributors, but TuneCore delivers within SIX HOURS from when you pay us. The stores have it that fast! But then comes the wait, as different stores have different policies for making an album live.

For instance, AmazonMP3 can be very fast indeed, sometimes two or three days! Whereas iTunes has taken 4-6 weeks in the past, though they've clearly found ways to speed it up lately. Some stores can take what feels like forever, some are quite zippy. It changes with the season, with the store, and probably by factors beyond any one person's understanding.

Thanks, holler if you've any questions.

Hi JonPaulP,

Usually from iTunes it does takes about 4-6 weeks for contents to go live. As Peter mentioned, iTunes seems to be speeding up the process lately and getting contents live within 2-3 weeks. With WaTunes we usually seen people go live on iTunes within 1-4 weeks ( upon delivery of contents) and sometimes even 24 - 48 hours!

Its all dependent on the polishing process of iTunes and how accurate the content is delivered.
