Members Jammer48
Maple gets my vote. I just don't like the way a Fender looks with a rosewood neck.
Members Joranges
I don't know why I bother clicking into these topics anymore. I learn nothing but what stupid myths are still being passed around.Play with both yourself and figure out which one you like more. in my mind strats and teles with maple necks not only look cool they produce the classic strat/tele sound I want. I don't know if maple is faster than rosewood. never read anything scientific, but I feel faster on maple. but fast isnt what I am after. tone and then looks. an aged maple neck is gorgeous. ...Right, so.. a '59 Strat with a rosewood board won't give you a "real strat sound". Members rocztar
If you are asking this question, you won't know the difference. It's not an insult, it's just that the difference in tone is minimal, and most of us really can't tell anyway. Just get the one that feels best to you. Members Machine Gun
...Right, so.. a '59 Strat with a rosewood board won't give you a "real strat sound". That's not what he said. There is a difference in tone between Rosewood and Maple, and that's a fact. Maple has a brighter tone, while rosewood is warmer. So when the guy says that maple produces the "classic strat/tele sound I want", there's nothing wrong with that opinion. He's not saying that a strat with rosewood won't sound like a strat...
