Ableton is one of the more expensive packages out there, but you can get it in the US for like $500. Crazy. The thing about Ableton is that it's really geared toward live performance and making changes to music in real time, as it's being played to an audience. If that's not what you're after, there's probably no reason to pay for all this development. What are your goals exactly?
