Members Alanfc
Can anyone explain this? I'm a 25+ years Strat/Rosewood player. I buy me an EPI Les Paul to test out the LP style. I lust for them and really want a Gibson of my own.So I play around with it a few weeks about an hour a day and then do 2 3 hr. rehearsals with it. And.,, my fretting hand fingertips are numb for the next 2 days after rehearsal. Really, 2 days.Never has happened ever before. Even with longer stretches of playing or practice on the Strat. Is it the flatter harder fretboard? Is it the slightly thinner neck? Is it my stranglehold grip? (I can't change that btw)Is it the gods telling me something? Thanks if you got any ideas. Members adlo76
It may or may not be the stranglehold, but that's the first place I'd start. What do you mean you can't change it?
Members strat6866
That happened to me in the past too but for the life of me i cant remember why, how long it lasted but it did go away. .............. maybe when i owned an LP for a while. Members Alanfc
OK thanks guys ADLO76,, RE:my grip, . I think its because everythings so instinctive now, that to change a major thing in my technique (and comfort/happiness level) is not worth it just for the lust for a LesPaul. I don't have 4 hrs. a day to practice like I used to when I was a teen. But I can honestly say I haven't tried to change =anything= in my technique in the last 20 yrs. or so. Maybe I can.
