What sort of neck will I get on a 1989 Les Paul Standard?

Hi, I'm just about to buy a 1989 Les Paul standard off ebay. I'm however used to playing Ibanez and jackson guitars, and got a bit worried about the thickness of the neck, so I emailed the seller. Here's his reply:

I would say it's more 60's than 50's, or in between. Compared to

my 74 sg, it's a bit chunkier, but slimmer than my Ibanez artist

78. I've got small hands and find it nice an easy to play. I think

the 80's gibson use the d profile neck shape, kind of between

the 60's and 70's

I can't really make sense of it, as I'm not familiar with anything that he refers to. Is it possible to get some measurements so I can compare with my own guitars?

so how much thicker will this neck be compared to a 'slim taper '60s neck'?

You have the answer in the guy's email: "I would say it's more 60's than 50's." So slightly fatter than a slim 60's neck.

But yes, if all you know is Jackson and Ibanez necks, the Gibson LP neck (even the "slim 60's") will be an adjustment. I find it's worth it, especially when playing long gigs.
