Members buzzman
I finally got up the nerve to attempt a post on a forum. I appreciate your input if I don't get it right. I'm building a modest home studio and learning pro tools 7. By accident I toggled between the output from my g4 laptop and my mbox interface and was amazed how much "better" the sound from my computer was than the signal running through the interface. The equalizer was off in i-tunes so I ruled that out. Do I need to upgrade my interface? Thanks.
Members where02190
How do you have your monitors connected? Just toggling your sound output won't send signal to them if they are connected to the M-box.
Members buzzman
Thanks for the reply. I have the monitors connected to the mbox with balanced trs cables and the computer is connected to them through the headphone out splitting to rca connectors. when I say toggled, i changed the audio output setting in the computer from internal audio to external interface

Members buzzman
Thanks for the lesson in critical listening. I went back and matched up the volumes, toggled the outputs and they both sound the same. Thanks for your help.
Members franknputer
You might also want to try unplugging the one you don't use. My monitors don't operate at full power with cables plugged into both inputs simultaneously - if yours do the same, you will get better performance using only 1 set of inputs at a time.
