Members K.platyops
Why aren't these more common on Gibby's? Is there some tonal disadvantages, or are they merely seen as unneccesary?

Members surfcat
They make fine tuning way easier-I just played my '80 LP tonight for the first time in a while and was tuning it with a good tuner with a needle. Amazing how with the regular tuners it just goes from flat to too sharp with the smallest turn you can make. With the Tp-6, the gears are way smaller so it's very easy. I don't know if I'd bother replacing an existing tailpiece, but I don't know why these didn't catch on.
Members K.platyops
I've got a TP-6 on a '95 LP Studio and it's really pretty handy for tuning, especially for recording when you want to get things tuned up quickly and accurately. Do some purists look down on Gibsons equipped with the TP-6? For example, don't some people change them out for standard stop tailpieces?
