I love all sorts of music and changing it up keeps me from tiring of my normal CD's... tool, chilli peppers, Dave Mathews...

I'm hoping it grows on me - I love BORIS, but this new one isn't tripping my trigger...

Members noisebloom
I'm hoping it grows on me - I love BORIS, but this new one isn't tripping my trigger...I think it's the production, partly. Lots of overdubbing and strange, hit-and-miss mixing. I doubt the Southern Lord version will be any different, but I'd love to hear a more organic mix of this. I'm hoping it sounds much better live. They clearly sound like a band who aren't used to doing things in multiple takes.I don't care at all for the techno of the first track, and I thought it gets the whole record off on the wrong foot. But when Takeshi and Wata begin making those explosions of sound, it just begs for a huge sub. The only track that wowed me the first time was "Buzz-In," with Wata's heavily-DS-1'd punk riffing. The bonus track should be the first track, I think. Even though it meanders, there are some great old-school BORIS sounds in there. The albums has its moments, but it isn't BORIS at their best. Kudos to them for constantly trying new things, though.
