It depends on who your cable company is, whether the on demand service is free or not. I think Comcast has most stuff on demand for free. I live in Cablevision area and they have some stuff for free on demand, but for the rest you have to pay. On demand is like youtube on TV since you pick what you want to watch and when you want to watch it. It's one of the advantages that cable has over satellite.
