Members rusholmeruffian
Last month I bought a pair of used EMG humbuckers, a 60 and a 60A, to put in my Yamaha RGX320FZ (a pretty standard two-humbucker guitar). I didn't get around to trying to install them until the past few days. Anyhow, the EMGs won't fit into a standard humbucker mounting ring--I tried both pickups facing both directions in both rings, and they're just a hair too wide to fit--and I can't even get them to fit into the pickup cavities on my guitar. I even bought new mounting rings at GC today, which the store tested by putting a shrink-wrapped, brand new EMG-81 into each ring without a problem, but the 60 and 60A I have just won't fit. Is this a common problem? The pickups have manufacturing dates of November 2006.
Members tumbleweeed
I have the same problem with my really old Dimarzio X2N's. Theyre mounted in small rings and I ended up mickey mousing one with super glue, a paper clip and some household adhesive, when it broke
Members rusholmeruffian
I wonder what happened to the pickups to make the shells expand like that.
Members tumbleweeed
I just have too small of rings. Maybe you got a small set, too. I cant imagine anything shrinking or swelling.

Bizarre that two different sets of rings would have this problem. You ask me, I blame society.
