Members woodsmandan
I just tried to install a Mesa 6L6 power tube in my Fender Champion 600, and as soon as I turned the power on, smoke started to come out of the amp's chassis. I know the C600 runs on 6V6, but a 6L6 should not hurt, so I'm thinking the Mesa 6L6 was bad or blown or whatever. Then I've put the 6V6 back in, the amp lights up, the tubes are glowing, but no sound comes out.So my question is, how can a bad power tube hurt my amp...is the output tranny dead ? I've pulled the chassis out, and I can't see any burned components...everything looks fine.

Members Mercer
I think it CAN hurt your amp, but before you freak out, check the rest of your signal chain etc.
