Members fordboy
Guys--please be gentle (yeah, I know--right there's my 1st mistake!!) I'm a little non-enlightened...when exactly were the Norlin (pankake) years, & how bad are they, really?? I ask because I'm a lefty, & have recently talked to a co-worker of mine who says he has a friend selling a lefty LP Custom that he thinks is 1980-82... He says his buddy wants $1500 OBO--I've always wanted a Gibson LP, but don't want to invest big $'s (for me) in a potential turd--THOUGHTS?? THANKS, ALL!! Members vcnyls
$1500 is a very good price (assuming it's in decent condition). Jump on it.
Members Crisco
Those Poplar/Mahogany/Maple pancakes weren't all that bad. Pete Townsends vaulted #3 was a Gibson LP Deluxe Gold Top made like that and custom fitted with an old Dimarzio in the middle and those extra toggle switches in the back. Quite a nice guitar I think. You should jump on that deal you've been offered especially if the guitar is in very good condition.Lo & BeGold they have #3 in stock. Oh if I Only Had The Funds!!!!!http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Custom-Shop-Pete-Townshend-LP-Deluxe-3?sku=517229
Members bluelegacy
That price is good. I had a '79 LP Custom from the Norlin years which had a pancake body with a maple neck (w/ volute). It was very heavy and not very resonant. The Heritage H150CM I had blew it away. That said, $1500 is a good price and you could probably make a few bucks.
