Binding on Fender Necks

How come you almost never see a Fender with a bound neck? I know there are a few, but compared to some of the other guitar companies Fender rarely makes it available.

Is there a reason other than the fact that binding requires additional labor and therefore costs more? Good enough reason for me but I'm curious if there's more to it.

The occasional Fenders I do see with neck binding are just plain HAWT.

many teles have bound bodies and necks

i.e. Andy Summers model, many MIA teles

not so sure about that. a few models have bound bodies, very few have bound necks. the Andy Summers model has body binding but doesn't appear to have binding on the neck as far as I can tell.

Which MIA models have binding on the neck? I must have them.

Jazzmasters: the CBS years.

"Binding was added to the Jazzmaster fretboard in 1965, and in 1966 the dot markings were replaced by pearloid blocks. An optional maple fingerboard with black binding and block inlays (black and painted, unlike the pearl inlays previously used) was briefly offered in the mid-1970s." Wikipedia
