Need source for Identifying Tubes

OK guys.

I need an in-depth source for tube naming.

I have an opportunity to purchase about 1000 tubes for next to nothing.

I haven't had the time to go through very many but I have ID'ed some 12AY7 and 12AU7's.

They are all still in their original boxes and most are still new.

But there are a few markings that I didn't recognize. I need some way of ID'ing them to see if they can be used.

Any suggestions?

Go through KCA NOS tubes, and see what Mike sells. Keep 'em.

Anything else might be useful for radio, TV really oddball amps.

BUT you'll never sell 'em. Trust me-been down that road.

Instead, might I recommend;

List the rest here, and on the Weber buy and sell.

Give 'em away to anyone who can use 'em, just PayPal $6 to cover shipping, etc.

Again, you can grow a beard trying to sell 'em, and it's a bit of a shame to toss something someone needs to get a project back up-n-runnin'

Think of the Karmic brownies!!!!:thu:

Thanks, but I was looking for something more along the lines of Amp specific.

Anything that doesn't work in an amp I will probably offload to an antique electronics store.

Keep in mind that some tubes have exact substitutes or close cousins, and half brothers/sisters.

I.E. 12a_7 family is for instance, somewhat related to the 12bz7 (it's like a high gain 12ax7 times 2. Though it isn't ideal for a guitar amp, it can be made to work), and the 12ax7 is identical to the; 12ad7, 12df7, 12dm7 and 12dt7, but these are low microphonic versions. Then you have all the euro numbers and miltary numbers like 7025, and ECC83. Have fun with your tubes
