Members nuke_diver
This might be dumb but I'm new to effects on electrics..actually on anything for that matter. I scored an Ibanez DE7 a while back. Got it works great but I am having trouble hearing a distinct difference between the echo setting and delay setting especially at longer delay/echo times So the dumb question is what is the difference between delay and echo sorry...I had to ask
Members Monkeybot
Delay = Repeated sound. Echo = Repeated sound that fades with time. That's the best I can come up with. Think of natural echo - it fades with time - delay repeats for as long as you need it to. Reverb is the cousin of both - more echo than delay - It's echo that bounces back off multiple surfaces (like a room). That's the simple answer. Both are totally useful, both are different and have a unique vibe. Echo mimics more of a natural feel -
Members tim gueguen
The terms are largely interchangeable. However the echo mode on the DE7 is supposed to give a more analog delay sounding tone than the straight ahead digital delay sound of the delay setting.
