ZZ Sounds - no UK delivery
Guitar Centre- no UK delivery, unless you are based here in the US military.
Music 123 - no UK delivery, unless you are based here in the US military.
Sweetwater - Seems you can put in a UK address but it states someone will phone you to discuss details and costs.
LA Music - They do ship to UK.
Axe music - no UK delivery

In the UK I mainly use:
Nevada Music - http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/
Imuso - http://www.imuso.co.uk/
Strings Direct - http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/

Also sometimes:
DV247 - http://www.dv247.com/
Dolphin Music - http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/

They are not in the UK but Germany, even so I orderd my Gibson Meldoy Maker from these are it got here in 3 days!:
Thomann - http://www.thomann.de/gb/index.html

Los of people use this store, but I find they take orders to often on stock they don't have.

GAK - http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/

We also havea natinwide group that used to be called Sound Control but they went bust closed half the stores and where then bought out to become Reverb http://www.reverb-store.co.uk/

So that's a run down of the UK stores :)

its too bad you cant get stuff from musicians friend that sale they have is pretty sweet...the UK prices after i converted them arent bad just a bit more money at dolphin..

anyway try bump the thread tomorrow like i said and see what the rest of the forum members think about those two choices ... if im around at dinner time i will bump your thread myself...

was just thinking , be cool if you knew someone or a friend who had a mic that you could borrow for a day or two just so you could try it threw your toneport and see how the toneport works with a mic and how it sounds etc...you should post in the Line6 user forums and ask other toneport users if they are using a mic, and what settings are good, and what kiind of results they are getting etc...

here is the general line6 forum http://line6.com/support/forumindex.jspa

and here is their toneport forum page http://line6.com/support/forum.jspa?forumID=16

got to go now , catch ya later and good luck with narrowing down which mic to get :)

lol lol lol :lol::lol::lol:

DUDE your laughin ,,,,i just read the specs on your toneportGX , like i said i have podxt live so it dont have all the same things yours does, but like man you got mic preamps on your device built right in as one of the emulations in the package, you have no worries just get a mic and your ready to record , your set up is even better than mine, i have to fake mic preamps and it still sounds great, line6 has put mic preamp emulation right into your gizmo..:thu::thu::thu:

here is the quote from line6

Key Features

Lowest noise for recording guitar (12dB more dynamic range than similar interfaces)

Exclusive latency-killing ToneDirect

It sounds good to me. Just make sure you run the Tone Port's tube pre-amp emulation, to keep it warm sounding. Also, expiriment with mic placement around the Blackheart's speaker - that will have an effect on the sound too. I like Shures. I wish I hadn't sold my old SM58, to a drummer friend of mine. That thing sounded great for both vocals, and amp recording. Although my DA has speaker simulation for recording, and it sounds pretty good.

Thanks :) Yeah I turned off the effects from the toneport to just get a pure amp and mic sound. I will mess around with all the settings and placements when I am not in so much pain and can move around better!
Expect some recordings when that happens :)
I have also been playing with Audacity so I now know how I can do rhythm, lead and vocal recordings and lay them all into one track. It will be a lot of fun when I get going :)

Thats, I have now set it up using the vocal bright and clean sound, for pre amp I have it on American Classic. There was no Tube Pre Amp, just American Classic, Uk Vintage, Lo-Fi, Vintage, Modern and Console. Is there another Pre amp I should download? I did look at the site and could not find it.

Thanks

glad to hear you got everything worked out :thu:

clip sounds good for a first dry run at it....its all a piece of cake from now on , your gonna have loads of fun recording your playing...

try out everything that toneport has to offer, you can still mic your amp and still at the same time use all the effects and bells and whistles that tone port has built in like noise gates, reverbs, delays, etc, etc, to even enhance your mic'ed amp sound even more.. try and expirement with everything toneport has to offer, then after awhile you'll find things out of the bunch that work best for you or that you like....its amazing what those toneports are capable of doing once you figure them out.. sky's the limit with that stuff :)

if ping ponging and bouncing tracks becomes a bit of a hassel with that software your using then i really suggest you download Reaper. Reaper lets you record tons of indepentant tracks no limit, and all reapers functions work no restrictions at all, when you download Reaper your downling the full program not a limited demo like some of the others out there are....reaper has community forums where members people like those here are very very helpful giving your advice and tips to get you started recording...

Trust me man, once you get your feet wet in multi track recording you will very quickly find that 4 tracks is hardly enough at all, you will very quickly be wanting more and with Reaper more tracks is not an issue, and you dont have to waste time thinking about how your gonna bounce, NO BOUNCING needed in reaper..and reaper it the most efficient software out there it uses very little of your PC's resources, so if your pc is full or slow it will probably still be able to handle reaper with no difficulties...and Reap only takes like a minuet to download ..seriously its the fastest software download i have ever seen, super efficiently written software program..

sorry i started rambling on again...he he he :blah::blah:

great job mate, and hope you have tons of fun recording :thu:

Great thread:thu:

When I was looking before I worked out that the PG57 looked like a very good bet for a budget start considering the cost of it's more expensive cousin, that and the fact that there are quite a few SM57 fakes out there....link to Reaper?

Thanks mate :) Yeah seems a good mic so far and greta for the cash with all the accessories :thu:
Reaper I got from http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ I am to tired to play around with it now but it seems good :)

Cheapest by far but no good quality.

29819379.jpg

if your refering to the shure mic why so,,,its got great reviews for a mic in its price range and its a shure too...have you personally compared it to other mics or are you just blurting out the usual price snobbery cliches.. ....seems to me the shure aint exactly made of cheap plastic like the toy in your picture so, i dont know why that picture was necessary ...

if there is a better mic in that price range id love to find out about it myself ... if its just the price that bothers you then by all means donate a couple of grand to me and the original poster and will both run out right now and buy the top of the line neumans, i have no problem with dishing out the cash ...that is if i got it to dish out in the first place,,,,otherwise i make do with what i can afford just like everyone else.. :)

Oh, If your refering to Reaper its a top notch software program that stands up to any of the others out there and even in some cases gives you a lot more features with very low tasking on your PC's resources...
