Members bluedevil0204
Whats up guys. Tomorrow I am going to tackle replacing my American standard tele white pick guard with a fender pearloid pick guard. To check the pictures out of the said guitar look in my signature at the thread that says "the guitar my wife gave me." I have a very simple question...hopefully: What can I do to help my telecaster from producing unneeded noise while I am replacing the pick guard? I have seen people twist the pickup wires around each other. I believe this helps with the noise from what I have seen. I have also seen people line the back of the pick guard and the body cavity with adhesive foil to cut down on noise. What should I do to help with the excess noise? Is there anything or would I just be wasting my time? Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks y'all!
Members archiemax
I'm a firm believer in applying the foil to the control cavity and the back of the pickguard--I get the wide copper foil tape from Stew-mac......and you've got to make sure that the tape you apply is wired to ground. Members SnoMan97
Get this stuff and line the back of the p/g and cavities. Solder the seams to ensure continuity. I used these instructions and it worked great.
