using GT-8 for Midi commands?

I have a new preamp on the way and will run it in the loop of my GT-8. Has anyone used the GT-8 to switch patches via its midi connectivity? The preamp is a JMP-1

Or do I need a midi floor controller

It'll work just fine. I used to have the exact same setup with the GT-8 controlling the JMP-1. You can change the incoming program changes on the JMP-1 to map to whatever patch you want.

 

BTW, in case you didn't know, here's the best way (IMO) to connect it:

 

Guitar -> GT-8 input

GT-8 loop sent -> JMP-1 input

JMP-1 output (pick one of the main outs, don't use the loop output, the JMP's loop sucks) -> GT-8 loop return

GT-8 outputs -> power amp

 

This will allow you to place fx either before or after the JMP-1.
