Members johnbarnesiii
Hello, I'm pretty sure the band Suicide used a farfisa organ on their first record, but can you tell me if any effects pedals were used (distortion, etc.) and if so, which ones in particular? Thanks!
Members Re-Member
Martin Rev has mentioned that he used Electro Harmonix pedals with a Farfisa organ and a rhythm machine made by a bowling bowl pin company called Seagrams. After the first album, Ric Ocasek took the group under his wing and got them a Prophet 5, which is heard on the "Dream Baby Dream" single and second "Suicide" album. I actually helped set up their MySpace page which Martin Rev currently checks and answers most of the emails for. They are such a unique and relentless group. http://www.myspace.com/revega
Members johnbarnesiii
Thank you! But would you know EXACTLY which pedal for the dirty sound coming from the farfisa, specifically on Ghost Rider (first album)?
Members Re-Member
Thank you! But would you know EXACTLY which pedal for the dirty sound coming from the farfisa, specifically on Ghost Rider (first album)? The whole album sounds like it was done with distortion, delay and tremolo. That type of distorted organ sound is easy to pull off, it's just those rhythm pulses that make the album really one of a kind. I honestly don't know the exact pedals Rev used, but you can always send him a message from that MySpace page.

Members johnbarnesiii
Hey I Myspaced Rev and he said "no pedals at all" were used! Is that possible? It sounds so dirty on that first album, especially "Ghost Rider". Would there have been anything internally on the farfisa to give that gritty sound? Members yorgatron
a Farfisa is a pretty raspy unit from the get-go,i'm sure they plugged it into a nasty sounding guitar amp too...
