    Voltage Connect Conference 2017

    Pioneers, Players, Thinkers, Purveyors

Electronic Production and Design presents the Voltage Connect Conference at Berklee on March 10 and 11. Themed “Pioneers, Players, Thinkers, Purveyors,” the conference will examine the development and direction of electronic instruments, from early commercial synthesizers in the 1970s to the present and beyond, bringing together major figures in the field, including researchers, companies, and performers.

The Voltage Connect Concert, Friday, March 10, at the Berklee Performance Center, will celebrate electronic instruments in live performance with sets by Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater, and electronic music pioneer and visiting scholar Suzanne Ciani. Their work explores the promise and possibilities of electronic sound, ranging from modular synthesizers to new kinds of expressive controllers.

Presenters at the conference include keynote speakers David Friend, cofounder of ARP Instruments; Marcus Ryle, president of Line 6; and Daniel Haver, CEO of Native Instruments. Panels and technology demos will cover topics including electronic instruments as studio tools, mobile and software instruments, modular synthesizers in performance, and sound design for synthesizers.
