Low wattage amp with full EQ section, reverb and line out


Asheville, NC – April 17th, 2014 – Adding to the company’s well-established line of boutique guitar amplifiers, the flagship model for the new Santa Cruz Series, the SC-5 offers multiple power and rectifier tube options, for 5-9 watts of output, without re-biasing. 


Housed in a larger cabinet, the amp is available as a head or combo with 8”-12” speaker options.  A full 3 band EQ (treble, bass, mid), tube driven spring reverb and a line out jack, the SC5 fits well into any studio or small club setting for a variety of musical styles.

Amp highlights include:


·     Accepts 6V6/6L6/EL34 power tubes and 5Y3/5U4/GZ34 rectifier tubes

·     5-9 watt single ended hand wired tag board construction

·     Available as a head or 8/10/12” combo all coming in under 30 lbs

·     Two input single channel amp with tube driven spring reverb and line out jack

·     Control panel layout:  Hi-Lo Inputs, Volume, treble, mid, bass, reverb

·     Footswitchable reverb with one button footswitch included

·     Large finger jointed pine cabinet for better sound projection

·     Eminence speakers stock with other options available


All Headstrong Amps are designed and built in the company’s Asheville NC home.  Suggested retail pricing starts at $1325 up to $1475 for the 12” combo




Wayne Jones has been building hand-wired boutique amps for over 10 years.  His all-tube amplifiers are perfectly voiced for variety of musical styles and settings.  He launched Headstrong Amps in 2003, after years as a professional musician working on his own vintage gear.  Headstrong clients past and present include Marc Ford, Paul Simon, Richard Thompson, Buddy Miller, Marc Ribot, The Black Crowes and many more artists spanning various musical genres.
