Members cellkimball
I have an Epiphone Excellente FT 550 in great condition. I believe it has Brazilian rosewood for the sides and back with inlays. The neck has pearl inlays. Does anyone have an idea about how much this is worth? Looking to sell it. Back and sides were laminated, top was solid...East Indian Rosewood, as it was made in the mid-70s, when Brazilian RW would've been too expensive to use on a guitar that retailed for about $350-400. Today's value, in perfect condition, might be as high as $200-225 w/ hsc...might want to hang onto it a while longer, see it becomes more valuable later. Members Terry Allan Hall
Thanks, Terry, for the reply. Now at least I know what I have. Craig Basically, a decent guitar, that with an upgrade from the plastic nut and saddle (I'd suggest Tusq) and a replacement of the original tuners to Grovers or Schallers, could be a very nice guitar, indeed. Had the FT-350 (mahogany version of the FT-550), back in the latter 70s, and it was an excellent guitar for gigs in rougher places...nice, balanced tone and a really comfortable neck.
