Members nwa111
What is "progressive" music..? Anyone I can listen to to get the gist of this? I'm sure this sounds behind the times, but I am.
Members bubkus_jones
Progressive music? Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, and Genesis, for earlier bands. Drean Theater, Queensryche, Fates Warning, for some more modern stuff. There are much more out there, and more varying fields of "progressive" than what's represented by what I've listed. Members nwa111
The first thing that popped into my head was like old King Crimson, but take some of Robert Fripp or Adrian Belew aside and some of it is still just a jam. i.e. rock y roll... Members kherman
Best place to really learn about the different genres of Prog Rock is: http://ghostland.com/ghostland/ Many reviews on Prog rock bands. Links, Labels, Etc.. To me it's a complex music. Time changes, tempo changes, long pieces, different moods. All can be happening within one song. Sometimes even getting a little bit on the fusion side of things. I myself am more into the Prog Metal. Dream Theater Fates Warning Vanden Plas Dali's Dilemma Magnitude 9 Explorers Club Threshold Shadow Gallery Symphony X Angra and many more.... Labels to check out: www.magnacarta.net www.insideoutmusic.com www.unicornrecords.com (the label we Dimension X are on) www.kinesiscd.com www.gft-cyclops.co.uk/cyclops/cyclops2.html www.lasercd.com (usually hosts the Progpower fest) Many of the labels like Road Runner Metal Blade Century Media carry prog metal bands as well. Few of the more known Prog festivals: www.bajaprog.com www.progpowerusa.com www.nearfest.com Kent
