Members Catfish-Killa
It is known he used an Acoustic Control Coorporation (Acoustic) Solid state amplifier for several years. He had fierce tone and would be a main person IMHO to argue that tube is not necessarily better than solid state.(I own both tube and SS BTW.) His natural tone was incredible. What type of overdrive did he use to get that tone or did he *gasp* go straight from Guitar to cord to amp??

Members diddlybo
I don't think he used any OD pedals. It wouldn't suprise me if Albert didn't even know what an overdrive pedal is.
Members Paul J. Edwards
Albert King did not use any kind of distortion pedal. Gibson Vee to an Acousic amp. It's in the phrasing and fingers.
Members Catfish-Killa
It definately adds credence that tone is all in the fingers. Some might even argue that his tone was more pure and musical than SRV's. Dont let the tube snobs catch me.
