Members Jeff Leites
I haven't opened it up yet, but when I insert a tape, press play, FF, or RWD, it just screeches. I assume it's a belt. Is it worth trying to fix it? Is it hard? Should I just buy a new one?
Members chipmcdonald
A) YesB) No, it's not worth the trouble;C) Buy a $99 Hauppauge PVR150 VCR repair appeared to be a cross between basic tv repair skills and building model ships in bottles. Members scotski
I'd say VCR repair is one of the last great dying arts. Scrap that thing!
Members Jeff Leites
Thanks for the advise. I took off the top and bottom.... did not see how I could get to the belts.... closed it up and went to Best Buy where I bought a new Sony DVD/VCR combo for $99.99. Now I have one less box, a lot less cables, and I don't need the RF modulator to put the DVD signal on Ch 3 (I have an old TV).

I did that belt change once, many years ago and swore I'd never do it again.
