Members johnny99
Wow. This place is incredible. I justt spend the first 3 hours of my day at work just reading. Already have picked up a lot. Question for the touring veterans. My band is embarking on a tour at the end of August / September. The goal is not to make big money, but to get the music out there and play for a lot of people in a lot of places. We know it's going to be an east coast / midwest thing, we know the major cities on the route, and we have a general idea of the calendar (mid-August through mid-September). Some gigs are in place in places we know (New York, Chicago, Minneapolis), but we know ZIP about Indy, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Philly, St. Louis, etc. Ideally, we hit mostly college bars. My current plan is to contact and send a package to every applicable club/bar from the Musician's Atlas. My question: is there a better way to do this? Is there a comprehensive list of area music clubs on the internet somewhere? There seem to be a lot of clubs missing from the Atlas. Matchgig looks good -- is it worth the money? Basically, we want to throw as many darts at the board as possible next week and see what happens. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is our first tour. I'm sure it'll be a bumpy ride, but the only way to do it is to do it, right? Looking forward to your comments,John
