Triton Le vs Yamaha CS6X

Hello mates..

I wondered about these two synthies.

As you know, I have one of them, the Triton Le, which from some reasons, you people don't like (Like when you say LE=lame edition).

I really don't understand why... I mean. It's not THAT different then the original triton studioclassic...

(Differences:

-no ribbon controller -

-no diskfloppy drive... but theres smart media - so who cares?

-no option for adding boards (MOSS, and stuff like that).

-no touch screen - who cares?

-1 insert effects instead 5.. I guess I could live with that...

- 2500$ and more, cheaper.).

Anyway, that's not the reason that I opened this.

Someone can sell me the yamaha cs6x, for a low price.

Although I like my triton le, like a child, I thought, that maybe I should sell it, and get the CS6X, if it's better... I mean, it doesnt seem like it's way more better then the le...

First of all, theres no sequencer.

It has less FX untis then my triton le, less programs (or patches).

It has a smapler (My triton le don't have, but if i won''t get the cs6x, ill upgrade).

It has a ribbon controller.

It has an option for adding stuff, (I don't know.. boards and stuff like taht).

I can't really see a good reason to get it, although many people live it, and it was a very succeful synth, as I understood.

Should I replace my Triton Le with it?

Are there more differences then I mentioned?

What is better? why?

The Yamaha CS6x is more oriented to the dance crowd and I think you can expand it with one PLG (plug-in) card, which is the equivalent of adding another synth (DX, AN, DRums, Piano and some other). Do not know if the CS6x has the same soundset as the S series but those contain among the best pianos-epianos-clavinet-organs (same as in current motifs). The downside is that Yamaha interfaces are the most complicated to navigate and manuals are pretty cryptic. I'd try it for a couple of days and see what suits best for you.

The PRESETS on the CS6x may be dance-oriented but there's no reason you can't alter them to be whatever you want. Having owned and gigged with a variety of Korg AND Yamaha gear, I can say from experience that one is not significantly harder to use than the other. Yamaha having difficult interfaces is something of a myth, I reckon... one of those things that "everyone knows". Use it enough and it'll quickly become second nature.

Personally given the huge difference in build-quality between the two, I'd take the CS6x any day of the week over a Triton LE. A couple of well-chosen PLG boards, and some messing with the presets to make them more like the sounds you need, and it'll piss all over the LE.
