Members winterandsummer
The mp3's sound really nice, if the orch and piano sounds are anything like the mp3 it will be a winner, some of the synth sounds have a vangelis cs80 quality. Members C#minor
Well, at the price they are asking $300, I find it a little too steep. They also mention that they will never offer a group buy (against their policy), and to get a discount you must have almost all their other products. At this price, IMHO, I think there are far better or at least comparable offerings. Dimensio Pro (from www.cakewalk.com) is far more tweakable, you get almost 7GB of samples on 2 dvds + already released two free expansion sets. Aslo Wusik Station V3 (from www.wusik.com) sounds very good to me. Best.

Members J3RK
I'm fairly unimpressed so far. I want to hear demos from people that don't make cheese-trance sounds. I've never really liked any of the Vengeance sounds. Not that they aren't good for what they are, but they definitely don't do a thing for me. I'd like to hear the Vengeance fellow create something different. All of the soundset sound very similar. (not to mention the 20+mb file of the same thing over and over) I'd also like to hear some raw tones, sweeps, and other comparison sounds. I like reFX synths too, but I agree with the above post that I haven't heard anything to justify its pricetag yet. Plasticz and QuadraSID are far more interesting. Could be cooler than the demos would have one believe.

I agree, i hate all that trancy crap, the nexus mp3's are better than other softsynth demos i could mention tho, waded thru all the crap and listened carefully to all the other sounds, the dynamics, how sounds sat in the mix and was impressed, most demos only hint at whats possible tho. Price? well they do say its an whole new sample library, does seem a bit steep tho. Im sure the guys at refx know what theyre doing, their vanguard synth does so much more than its mp3s and presets suggested, it was loaded with crappy dance sounds but all the usual analogue sweeps, pads, bass, leads and stuff are easily tweeked. For those who like vanguard, check out firebird its made by one of the guys from refx, aimed at the more classic analogue crowd, less cold dance more classic liquid analogue, nice. Members J3RK
Vanguard was pretty cool, so I'm quite certain that Nexus would be quite a bit better even. Hopefully more modulation routing and stuff like that. (I haven't yet read the whole page for it yet.) With Vanguard, I wouldn't use it to replace analog, or a more analog oriented virtual, but what it did, it did well. You can get some really nice rythmic sounds out of it using the gates and arps (which I like when not in the trance context.) I have no doubt that it's a cool synth, but I'd like to hear some other contexts for it, other programming styles, etc. before putting down that much money. I love digital/software synths. The reason those clips don't seem to do it justice is that most of the prominent sounds are quite high pitched thin and buzzy trancey stuff. I'd like to hear some basses by themselves, some synthesized EPs, some lower pad washes, etc. Exercise the low-pass a bit more maybe, and show off what the resonance sounds like on a simple sound. (as far as the filters go) Maybe a full sweep of a bandpass, etc. too. I'll check out the demo when they put one up. It definitely looks promising, just not so much based on the clips.
