Lead/Pad synth opinions

I am trying to complete my rig. I play electric jazz, ambient and prog and I am looking for a good live synth. Right now my setup is a Kurweil PC2x, Korg MS2000 and an Ibook with Absynth and B4. The choice has boiled down to a mono or poly Evolver, used VSynth or a used Andromeda. I am looking for a good expressive lead synth more than anything but killer pads would be cool too. Like alot of musicians I am broke and married so cash is defintiely part of the decision. Opinions?

All the synths you mentioned are great, but why get a mono evolver if you want to do pads? The Andromeda is awesome but probably not as reliable as the VSynth or poly evolver. A used VSynth might be the cheapest option, unless you want analog sounds.

andromeda is reliable, unless you buy a late 2006 batch which is fkd-up in the factory, faulty from the get go. can't get in tune. it is well documented.

other andromedas, in last six yrs of production work no problem, and are quite reliable live. for pads i give it 10/10, very warm, analog and organic. leads are nice too.. from 70s fusion/prog to modern ambi textures. overall i think it fits your described style the best.

if u have a chance to check the used unit prior to purchase, that everything works ok, you're in business.
