Stand question

Another stand question:

I posted a while back asking about a stand for a small controller and got some good help. Can anyone point me in the right direction with this?

I'm gonna be gigging with an M-Audio Axiom 49-key controller and a Macbook. Can someone recommend a stand that will work well for both? The Axiom doesn't have anyplace good to set the notebook. But I want to be able to see the screen close-up and access the trackpad, so don't want it off the the side of the stage somewhere. Most of the things I see online are too wide either for the keyboard on the bottom tier or too wide for the computer on the upper tier. I caught the Bjork performance on SNL and was pleased to see 2 Macbook Pros, but they were sitting on something big and unportable-looking.

Any tips? What do you laptop/controller types use? Oh yeah, I hate X-stands, but if that's the best I can do then so be it.

If you're just looking for an easily portable flat surface, I'd try something like this. There are several brands -- just poke around. They're basically small tables with telescoping legs that unscrew and clip onto the bottom of the table's surface for transport.

I use them a lot for my side job to hold mixers, CD players, LCD projectors, etc etc.They're very light and stable. It would be awkward to use as a "2nd tier" set-up, but perhaps useful off to the side? There should be enough room to put your amp underneath if you're trying to minimize your footprint.

Hmm.... Looks like a good idea. Yikes on the price though. Like you said, I'll have to poke around. But it looks sturdy enough and my amp should fit under it no problem. I like that it folds flat. And it would give me room for maybe a mouse and an interface/router/pedal/etc. Thanks a lot!

Any other ideas, anyone?
