Anyone upgrade or mod speaker or tweeter in their Roland KC500?

I was given two used Roland KC500 amps in incredible condition for their age (the have ALL the stupid gold knob tops still intact on BOTH units...which is almost a miracle in itself!)

BUT one has a blown tweeter/horn...

...and I'm contemplating what might be a better replacement rather than going stock.

Has anyone else modded or experimented in this direction?

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know Roland will sell me another tweeter. I'm just wondering how this unit might sound with better quality components for speaker and/or tweeter.

Yes, I know I'm just asking for trouble or problems...but I wouldn't do anything that I couldn't reverse. I'm just thinking a couple of JBL, EV or McCauley speakers I have gathering dust might be interesting to try...and I'd bet the stock Roland tweeter is probably of lesser quality than the stock 15" speaker.

Roland can only give you so much at this price point. I'm just curious if anyone else has played around with this.

Here's a good mod:

1. set KC outside.

2. pour gasoline on it.

3. fire it up!

Find someone in your town/city who does good speaker work. Tell him what you're after and see if he can help you pick something out that fits the parameters of the box and the type of sound you're going for.
