Members SoundwaveLove
The one internal memory bank seems to be functioning fine, but any sounds i save on the memory card pop and crackle on playback, making them totally useless. The manual says any compact flash card will do. I'm using a kingston 1gb compact flash. I wonder if this is an issue with the unit reading the card, or the card itself? In the manual it says nothing about what types of cards can be used. Is the sp-404 a $400 piece of crap?
Members Meatball Fulton
The only way to know is to get a different card and see if that works properly. Sadly, CF cards used in audio applications can be a hit-or-miss affair. Luckily 1 GB cards are only about $15 these days, the first one I ever bought cost $99 If this is a newer Kingston 1GB with the flower photo on it, I bought 4 recently to use with my Boss multitracker. One would not work at all, another started giving me "drive busy" errors. But a different Kingston I bought over 3 years ago works fine
Members SoundwaveLove
yeah, it's the flower kingston. Is there a company that makes card specifically for audio/high speed purposes?
Members AfroRouge
The 404 manual has a list of "confirmed" cards at the back, although they aren't all available now. I bought a different "model" from one of the manufacturers listed. I'll let you know how it works out once it arrives.
