Members ripe
I am looking to expand my JD-800 and I'm not sure which card would be best... I want good source waveforms for synthetic pads. Granted the internal sounds already produce great pads. Any recommendations? Mostly I see percussion cards on eBay, was there a great demand for percussion sounds on these synths? This would probably the last machine I would want percussion sounds on, lol. cheersripe
Members ChristianRock
There's always a lot for sale and nobody buys them, because basically the sounds are really dated and nobody really wants that sound right now, unless you are in a Janet Jackson cover band (is there such a thing? ). Guest Anonymous
I have the brass, piano, string and all of the drum cards which each have useable sounds on them. The one card Roland should have made is a Vintage Synth card. Lots of sliders with limited synth waves = Fail. Members ripe
So, I'm thinking the string ensemble card? That looks to be the only "pad-worthy" card... I wish there was a vintage synth card, but there is the awesome ACCORDIAN card! What about the third party cards? Or is it possible to "roll your own" waveform card somehow? cheersripe
Guest Anonymous
I have some after market waveform cards for Wavestations and Alesis let you make your own cards but, I have never seen any after market waveform cards for the JD series. If anybody has please chime in.
Guest Anonymous
Remember the JD-990 can hold one JV-80 card and the Vintage Synth card is the ticket to bliss.
Members ripe
Here's the third party cards I found, but I've never heard any comment on them... http://www.masterbits.de/rom_e.htm cheersripe
Guest Anonymous
The Masterbit cards are rom cards and not waveform cards. Here are some links to research. Members Karma1
Interestingly enough, the various drum cards for the JD contain a lot more than drums. They are loaded with a variety of different patches including: strings, brass, organs, pads, pianos, etc. I've got the Standard, Dance, and Rock Drums sets and there lots of great sounds besides drums in them.
