Members Mateusz
I play on guitar for over year but I alwas wanted to play on the keyboard so now finally I can check this out ! So, I will try to 'gift' myself with a keyboard for a Christmas What would you reccomend ? I was thinking of -Casio CTK 4000 -Yamaha PSR E 313 I would like to play about with it and check out different sounds, from classic piano to some really punchy, deep, distorded sound Would you reccomend something else excepting them ? And I will consider only a new keyboard -------------------------------------------------------- Slight change in plans, detailed explanation in one of the posts below

Members Yoozer
from classic piano Yes. to some really punchy, deep, distorded sound Probably not, unless you run it through your guitar effects.
Members Mateusz
Through guitar effects ? How is it supposed to work, so can you boost/expand sound of the keyboard by these things like an amplifier ?
Members enx
Most keyboards have line outs that you can hook to effects, then to an amp. in fact, most serious keyboards come speaker-free
Members Mateusz
I suppose so you can run it through amplifier for keyboard then But I don't think I want go that advanced, built-in speakerrs should be fine
Members Mateusz
I changed sligthly my plans. I realised that I need to upgrade my budget quite significantly... I did a bit of research and a keyboard will not be a too good idea... Now I'm sure it has to be a synthesiser So I looked for some products which we have availible now and I'm intrested in -Roland Juno D -Roland SH-201 (only for electronic music, but good for beginners since it has simple, classic layout ?) -Korg X50 (Prices are good only in USA, otherwise... about

Members Mateusz
So much changed since this thread was made... Budget raised as well ! to $900 what is really cool. I tested couple of synths but still I can't decide -Roland Juno G -Korg X50 -Korg TR 61 -Roland SH201... yeah still, it's pretty intersting piece of kit ! -Korg M50... second hand, a newest stuff... better than X50 ? Actually can you edit waveforms in Juno G ? Prices of keyboards gwon so much recently
Members evildragon
M50>>X50. Go for it.
Members Mateusz
I saw a second hand one M50 for about 550 quid so I thought it's a occasion.About X50 I was a bit pushed off by quality of knobs and cheap looking handles. M50 looks way more classy, is that improved then, those crappy knobs ?
Members ChristianRock
You won't even notice the knob difference once you hear the difference in the sound... they're in a different league. But yeah the knobs are better too... Members Mateusz
And that's what I am going to do... It's really product so even preowned will be like new or nearly probably I liked X50 sound so I am sure I will like M50, and it has this touchy screen.
