Members Oscius
Ok well christmas is coming and the gas strikes with alarming rate... I dont have a lot of budget, but it is enough for one of these 2, here are some questions about them: 1) "Blofeld" - This is not available for testing so can someone direct me to some audio demos of the best highlights? I would be using this for BIG FAT supersaw strings/"vocal", metal type of lead sounds (which of course need some type of distortion, is blofelds any good? @ 2:40 is what I am after) + some nice background pads and random "leady" sounds. Blofeld can do this? Are the filters good sounding? 2) Strings SRX-06 xpansion for my roland sonic cell - does this really give good cello and string sounds? I belive sonic cell already has some samples taken out of the SRX so I dunno if I benifit from it in anyway. And yeah demos would be nice. I want more fast type of strings and better slow ones. Can any SC / fantom owners tell if the strings are noticebly better sounding in this SRX? Post your ideas for other choices as well if you have anything in mind... Members xmlguy
The Blofeld can't do THAT. You need a keytar. Spreading your legs five feet apart helps. As far as the synth sound, any synth will do. It's about as unoriginal as the band itself. The Blofeld preset patches sound much too good for that, so you'll need to spend some time making a {censored}ty little sawtooth patch that doesn't use any of its effects. Or maybe the keytar and spreaded legs just got me Anyways do you think that I could get anything new with the blofeld as I own the Korg X50, and sonic cell already. The sonic cell is pretty neat but it is just too much of a pain to program, blofeld looks much smoother(exspecially the editor). But I am not going to want it just for better editor(afterall its like
Members xmlguy
I haven't used the Blofeld, but the example of the distortion curves are wild. The Blofeld is just too expensive and unavailable for me to justify it. But it probably is a good option for you if you want to do searing distortion leads. Members xmlguy
In europe Blofelds are very available, and CHEAP. We need to do some synth arbitrage, especially with the improving Dollar vs. Euro. Europeans can visit the USA with a suitcase full of Blofelds, in exchange for returning with one full of all the gear that's cheaper here, and visa versa. Anyway someone on this forum must own a blofeld or SRX-07, comments please (audio demos are very velcome) acually I am not too worried about the distortion on blofeld as I have tonne of distortion guitar pedals (currently the best setup is to use sans amp GT and ibanez tube screamer; they arent tube amps but still sound quite good). So its mostly that does it sound better than korg or roland romplers on the wave department. also do you think the filters are better than rolands or korgs, they are both quiet not the best IMO. Well you can get 15% off by calling MF and saying "SANTA" when ordering (until 10:59 Pacific Time tomorrow - 12/15/2008) plus still get the 50 dollar rebate. So that is like what, about 150 USD off the price of 750? Six hundred for a Blofeld seems pretty reasonable to me. If I didn't order the Voyager plus have the microQ I would be doing that. Blofeld is just under 400 here (tax included). So its around 300 without tax... The SRX expansion costs 275--- so it is cheaper. Come on someone must have audio examples of these things : /. Members Oscius
Here is the lead without the keytar : ). @ beginning and 3:30. Shouldnt be really a problem for blofeld I dont think? (I want to make it just a lil brighter and maybe better distortion)

Members Oscius
I truely dont know what to do here... Reviews seem to be saying that the SRX-06 is good but software seems to be better nowdays, on the other hand I am not getting any software. How big of an improvement is the SRX 06 is from the Sonic cell's normal orchestra and sounds? Does the SRX-04 have better strings than the 06?
Members Diametro
SRX-04 is strictly solo strings ... honestly, I've only read of a few people who have it but I think they liked it ... I really should be one of them ... SRX-06 is a smorgasboard of ALL orchestral instruments including woodwinds, orchestral groupings, choirs, orchestral percussion, etc. It's VERY COMPREHENSIVE ... whereas SRX-04 is geared toward the solo string articulations ... The SRX-06 is a big improvement over stock Sonic Cell patches ... if only because YOU NEED many flavors when dealing with orchestral sounds ... think of how many samples you could come up with from an ENTIRE orchestra ... SRX-06 does a damn fine job IMO of capturing that experience ...
