Members thecrayonset
hey all Maybe there's a thread already but advice sought - guitarist / beginner piano player buying a keyboard for - Home recording (with garagebands) - Doesn't need to have millions of sounds / effects as the ones on garagebands sound ok for my home demo needs ( but fed up of using a typewriter keyboard...) - But also for playing live - ideally decent piano, elec piano and organ sounds. I like classic "analougue" synth sounds too but not vital I suppose - doesn't have to be full size - budget c.
Members xmlguy
Except for acoustic piano, the Novation X-Station 61 will give you more for your budget than anything else, unless you can find a used Fantom X6 or other recent workstation in your local area. The X-station has a great audio interface, which will save you from having to buy one separately. It's also a great midi controller that you can use for many years to come for softsynths. The synth with a ton of knobs is very useful for learning too.
Members thecrayonset
thanks xml - much appreciated. any final suggestions / tips b4 I splash out on this bad boy? are piano and organ sounds strong? I'm primarily a guitarist & the music I like / write / play would be along lines of arcade fire / tom petty / concretes / big star / rem is there anything worth spending a little more on or is this the best all-rounder it it's category? Thanks again ROcky
