hello everybody,

I need some advice for testing a triton extreme 88 keys.it is a second hand synthesizer and I want to be sure that works 100% in every section.

I mention that I own an entry level key (Yamaha psr 230) and I played with it aprox 10 years and now I want to dedicate more time to this passion and to invest in a professional key.considering that I spend about 1200 EUR, I want to know what are the most important things that should be checked before buying a synthesizer of this type.

any advice on this subject is usefull to me.

thanx

Some ideas:

- do all keys feel good? (no weird noises?)

- do you hear no distortion on the outputs (unless you've got the tube switched on?)

- does the touchscreen work - is it responsive? No scratches, no weird off-color spots?

After visually inspecting it, the first thing I do is play the keyboard UNPLUGGED (or off). Play every key and push every button. Do it slowly and methodically. By doing this you will hear every key compared to every other key and every button compared to every other button. I found 2 bad buttons on a synth this way and the guy was amazed. It's not really that hard. If all buttons and keys sound good, turn it on.

Make sure the touchscreen works - CALIBRATE IT. Use a pair of headphones and play a few things while messing with the volume - listen for scratchy or distortion.

Now use every button and key and make sure they actually work.

If you can play it for a while after doing all of that and everything seems fine, that's about as good as you can hope for.
