Members smallmouth
I turned on my Korg 0/1W FD yesterday and I was not getting any sound output. LCD and all functions seem to be working fine. I initialized it and reset it but I am still without sound. LOCAL is ON. Can these units be fixed? I read somewhere that Korg no longer makes parts for their older synths. Anyone else had a similar problem? I replaced the battery a few months ago when the unit was completely dead. The new battery put everything in order and it worked fine until I tried to use it yesterday. God Bless,Don
Members ramkeys
I had a Roland that would give no output if you backed the volume pedal all the way off before turning it off. When I used a volume pedal, it worked fine. It's worth a try. Richard

Members Mecedes
Have you connected the left and right outputs correctly?Have you connected the power cord/cable correctly? Is there any bad weather in the area?Is the power point that you have plugged it into working correctly? All the above may contribute to no sound output
Members smallmouth
Power is fine as all functions are working except for sound output. Headphone output is dead as well. I don't have an expression pedal so that scenario of hope won't work. God Bless,Don

When I used a volume pedal, it worked fine. It's worth a try. Richard I'm thinking this might be the problem. If you can, try sending the 01w a volume command (crank it up!) over MIDI to see if that brings it back to life. I don't know if the volume setttings in the sequencer would accomplish the same thing or not. It might. Barring that, you might try unplugging the battery and re-installing it a minute later (it worked before for you, correct?). If that or the MIDI volume thing works, try and figure out what might have caused the problem to happen (eg. any other synths connected via MIDI that might have sent a bad command that made the 01w freak out, etc...). Good luck, and let us know how it turns out...
Members Spleencage
Do you have any residual noise from the unit itself? crank it up to see. If no noise, it may be you have a blown voice board, if you do get some noise it may be a blown op-amp.Are you sure there are patches loaded in? Members smallmouth
If you use this analogy my neglect of the instrument is somehow responsible. I did read somewhere that capacitors and resistors can wear out. There is certainly no evidence of its age. Once opened up all the componetry appears as new. I suspect something has given out after 15 years. Once I got the Korg P.A. 80, which I can sing through and play guitar through, the 0/1W definitely got neglected. One of the things I do is entertain kids as a singing/storyteller. I have one show where I load up the 0/1W with a disk that has the special patches I need and I have all this wonderful music adding to the drama taking place in the story/ In one sequence when the hero is being stalked by a Tyrannasaurus I have orchestral "Jaws-like" music layered with a synth sound that sounds like the dinosaur slogging through the swamp. The effect is very cool and movie-like and adds much to the telling of the tale. Of course that is only one scene in the narrative. The other musical effects and songs are just as inspiring. I can't do this presentation without my trusty 0/1W. I guess I'll contact the fellow who repaired the broken microphone input on my P.A 80. If he can access parts hopefully he can fix it. Members midinut
If having it repaired becomes prohibitive, I see them on eBay fairly regularly.
