Does anyone here own an Accelerator?

I have been searching around on this from time-to-time; it just interests me. Wife wonders why I am always reading and listening to stuff related to gear, and I tell her some guys are into reading about cars, some about motorcycles, and some about synthesizers (and photography gear, guitars, etc).

Keyboard Magazine review by Gino Robair.

Peter Mahr article at greatsynthesizers.com

Based on the reviews, it is an excellent-sounding VA-style synth having a "next generation" VA engine and very full modulation capabilities. It also sounds that if a user wants the board is to compete with a Virus TI2 in terms of pure number of voices, then a couple of expansion cards will be necessary. However the DSP algorithms, analog modeling, etc., are all different so the comparison is sorta apples and oranges (though my mind gravitates in that direction right away).

One element that I would want that is missing from the sound engine at this time is filter FM.

There are some demos by Jorg Schaaf on Soundcloud as well.

I haven't really looked into the Spectralis series much - well just a little in the sense that I have listened to Jorg Schaaf's demos and think they sound wonderful. I have also read some comments on the Radikal forums that suggest there are users out there that really love them and that like all synths there is disagreement on the difficulty of programming. One thing that appeals to me about Radikal in general is that Mr Schaaf is a very creative musician who seems to be really passionate about making instruments for creating the sounds and music that *he* wants as a musician.

Same here. I almost would like him to take a little brake to be able to make more music, but then again, I'd like them to work their asses off with the synths. Accelerators demos sound really good, and it seems so versatile, that even if its VA, I thought I could try to replace my all around keys with it. I just want a step sequencer, like the Spectralis has, and it has analog oscillators and filters too. Radikals instruments life span is also impressive...although some one was a little bitter about the update speed, but its uderstandable for the size of the company.

I've been fascinated with the Spectralis for quite some time. There is limited information about them, and I've also read negative reviews regarding complexity of the OS.

It's a pricey module as well, but offers a lot and sounds great. Maybe someday.

I was under the impression the Spectralis is a hybrid synth--digital oscillators with analog filters.

Aa, yes. I must have connected the mention about "4 oscillators" and the mention about analog circuitry next to it in my mind. I can be such a bright specimen some times. But no matter, I still want it just as bad.

That is true. I read through the specs for the Spectralis 2. They are selling for $2499 from Nova now.

I have to admit that I am tempted sorely by the Accelerator, but I have no rational for owning it other than pure desire and I also have no place to put it at the moment. If it came in a module form though I would buy one.
